About Center for Survivors of Torture

Since 1997, the Center for Survivors of Torture has been dedicated to providing integrated services to survivors of torture in Texas. Originally a project of Proyecto Adelante, CST recognized the urgent need for mental health support among clients seeking political asylum. In 2000, CST became an independent 501(c)(3) organization, expanding its reach with offices in Dallas and Austin, and satellite services in San Antonio.

Impact of Our Work

In 2023, an impressive eighty-two percent of CST clients achieved their counseling goals within just six months. Survivors who once struggled with nightmares and debilitating trauma are now able to find joy and stability in their lives. With the support of CST, these individuals are reclaiming their lives and becoming active members of their communities.
