Our Story

The Center for Survivor Agency and Justice (CSAJ) was founded in 2006 by Erika Sussman to address the critical gaps in services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. By translating survivor-centered theory into legal practice, CSAJ focuses on the economic needs of survivors, collaborating with advocates, attorneys, and coalitions to enhance economic advocacy.

Impact

Each year, CSAJ trains nearly 1,000 advocates, empowering them to assist over 32,000 survivors. The organization has successfully influenced policies that recognize economic abuse and mobilized coalitions to address the economic impacts of domestic violence, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
