Our Story
Founded in 1971, the Center for Prevention Services (CPS) was the first organization dedicated to substance use prevention in Charlotte-Mecklenburg County. Originally known as the Drug Education Center, CPS has evolved to address youth substance use and behavioral issues before they escalate. With a commitment to evidence-based programs, CPS has expanded its reach across multiple counties, making a significant impact on community health.
Impact
CPS has established itself as a leader in drug education and prevention, implementing the Youth Drug Survey since 1972 to track youth substance use behaviors. This long-standing initiative has provided invaluable data that informs community strategies and programs.
