Our Story
Tracing its roots back to the Friends of Photography founded in 1967, the Center for Photographic Art (CPA) is the second oldest members’ photography gallery in the United States. Located just a short walk from Ocean Avenue in Carmel, California, this venerable gallery was originally launched by iconic artists such as Ansel Adams, Cole Weston, and Wynn Bullock. Today, the CPA continues to serve as a vital resource for its members, the community, and the broader world of photographic arts.
