Our Story

The Center for Community Energy (CCE) emerged from the San Diego Energy District, established in 2011 to promote Community Choice Energy. Founded in late 2019, CCE serves as an intervenor before the California Public Utilities Commission, focusing on decarbonization and sustainable local energy solutions.

Our Impact

In 2022, CCE explored strategies to encourage the replacement of gas hot water heaters in rental properties, aligning with San Diego’s Regional Decarbonization Framework. In 2023, CCE conducted research on public perceptions of e-bikes, highlighting their environmental and health benefits for the County of San Diego.
