Our Story

The Center for Advancing Domestic Peace, established in 1998, has been a beacon of hope for those affected by domestic violence in Chicago. Originally founded as the West Side Domestic Abuse Project, the organization became a 501(c)(3) in 2003 under the leadership of Dr. Christine Call and Dr. Charles Stoops. Over the years, the Center has expanded its reach, opening additional offices and providing services tailored to the needs of diverse communities, including Spanish-speaking individuals.

In 2009, the organization rebranded to the Center for Domestic Peace, emphasizing its commitment to fostering healthy relationships rather than merely addressing the issue of abuse. The Center's strategic relocations have ensured that services are accessible to those in greatest need, including a move to Englewood in 2013 and the establishment of programs in Wheaton, IL.

Through innovative programs like the Beliefs and Skills program, CADP continues to empower individuals to break the cycle of violence and build safer communities. The Center's focus on community partnerships and volunteer training enhances its impact, making a significant difference in the lives of many.

Impact

Research indicates that participants who complete the Partner Abuse Intervention Program (PAIP) are significantly less likely to reoffend, leading to safer homes and communities.
