Our Story

Founded by James Wheatley, Celebration Arts has been a beacon of artistic expression since 1986. With roots in the Celebration Dance Company established in 1976, this nonprofit organization focuses on providing training and performance opportunities in theater, dance, and music, particularly for underserved communities in the Sacramento Metropolitan Area. By showcasing works from award-winning Black playwrights, Celebration Arts enriches the cultural landscape and fosters community engagement.
