About Cedar Rapids Parks Foundation

The Cedar Rapids Parks Foundation is a grassroots organization formed by dedicated community members who recognized the urgent need for private funding to enhance the Cedar Rapids park system. This initiative emerged from collaborative discussions among the City’s Parks, Recreation and Waterway Commission, the Parks Department, and the City Manager’s office, aiming to implement vital projects outlined in the city’s Master Plan and Greenway plans.

Impact on the Community

To date, over $50,000 has been raised to support the ReLeaf for Parks initiative, which focuses on the reforestation of local parks. Significant improvements have been made at Bever Park, including the restoration of the farm wall and fences, as well as the introduction of educational features like the Urban Gardens and Butterfly Garden.
