Our Story

In 1974, a dedicated group of neighbors came together to establish a library in Cedar Mill, Oregon. With no city support, they formed a nonprofit organization and mobilized volunteers to turn their dream into reality. After securing a location in the old Milltowner Center, they raised funds, collected books, and opened the library in January 1976. Today, Cedar Mill & Bethany Community Libraries stand as a testament to the vision and commitment of those early volunteers, serving as vital community resources for over 40 years.

Impact

The Cedar Mill & Bethany Community Libraries provide essential public library services to unincorporated Washington County, becoming one of the most heavily used libraries in Oregon.
