About The Cathedral Center
The Cathedral Center, established in 1996, began as a community initiative to provide shelter for women and children in Milwaukee. Initially operating in local churches, it became the city’s first overflow shelter for women. In 2002, it was formally incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and moved to its current location in 2003. Over the years, CCI has transformed into a comprehensive emergency shelter, offering vital programs such as the Women’s Independence Program, which focuses on workforce development.
Impact of The Cathedral Center
Each year, The Cathedral Center serves over 800 women and families, helping them create personalized plans to regain independence and achieve their goals.
