Catawba County Hispanic Ministry

Our Story

In 1998, a vacation bible school for Latino children in a local trailer park sparked the creation of Centro Latino. Founded by the pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Hickory, this initiative brought together local churches and service agencies to address the needs of the growing Hispanic population in Catawba County. Since its incorporation in 1999, Centro Latino has evolved into a vital community resource center, led by local Hispanic leaders, dedicated to serving the Hispanic/Latin community.

Impact

Hundreds of students have successfully navigated social and language barriers through our educational programs. Many children who have participated have gone on to pursue professional careers, becoming leaders in their communities. Our clients receive personal support to overcome the challenges of adapting to a new environment, and they continue to rely on our services as their needs evolve.
