About the Catamount Trail Association

The Catamount Trail Association is a dedicated group of backcountry skiers and outdoor enthusiasts, founded in 1984. This organization is committed to creating North America’s longest backcountry ski trail and pioneering innovative recreation projects throughout Vermont.

Impact of the Catamount Trail Association

With the establishment of North America’s longest backcountry ski trail, the CTA has created the first managed backcountry ski zones on public land in America. Each winter, hundreds of free backcountry ski tours are provided, enabling over 500 kids to experience cross-country skiing and engage in conservation work.
