Welcome to Casco Bay Hockey Association
Founded in 1973, the Casco Bay Hockey Association (CBHA) has a rich legacy of excellence in youth hockey. Originally established as Yarmouth Youth Hockey, CBHA was formed through a merger with Portland Youth Hockey in 1978, adopting the charter of Yarmouth Hockey. This pivotal moment set the stage for a journey that has shaped the future of youth hockey in Maine.
CBHA is dedicated to providing comprehensive hockey options, including learn-to-play programs, house leagues, and travel teams. The organization has grown significantly over the decades, serving a wide geographic area that includes Gorham, Saco, Scarborough, Cape Elizabeth, South Portland, Portland, Westbrook, Cumberland, Falmouth, Yarmouth, Freeport, and Brunswick.
A major milestone was the opening of the Family Ice Center in 1999, which facilitated CBHA's continued expansion and increased membership. Despite challenges, such as the statewide mandate to open hockey leagues in the mid-2000s, CBHA not only persevered but thrived, solidifying its position as the premier non-profit youth hockey organization in Maine.
CBHA has also emerged as a leader in girls' hockey programming, achieving remarkable success with a Tier I New England Regional Championship team and numerous state and regional accolades. In 2014, recognizing the growing demand for ice time, CBHA took bold steps by acquiring a used chiller and partnering with the Town of Falmouth to build the Casco Bay Arena (CBA), Maine's first non-profit hockey rink built specifically for a non-profit hockey program.
At CBHA, the commitment to excellence, inclusivity, and community remains strong. Whether a child is just starting or striving for championship glory, CBHA provides a supportive and enriching environment where every player can thrive.
