Advocacy For Abused And Neglected Children

Our Story

CASA of Northeast Tennessee, inspired by the vision of Judge David Soukup in 1977, was established to ensure that every abused and neglected child has a voice in court. This initiative began as a project at East Tennessee State University in 1985, fueled by a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In 2004, CASA of Northeast Tennessee became an independent 501(c)(3) organization, dedicated to serving the needs of vulnerable children in Washington County, Johnson City, Greene County, and Unicoi County.

Impact

Each year, CASA of Northeast Tennessee advocates for over 250 children, providing them with the support they desperately need. The average cost to provide a child with a CASA volunteer is just $95 a month, a stark contrast to the $8,000 monthly cost of foster care. By reducing a child's time in foster care, CASA not only saves money but also transforms lives.
