Established in 1999 in the Coulee Region, CASA for Kids was born from the vision of a La Crosse County judge and a dedicated steering committee. This organization is part of a national movement that began in 1977, advocating for children who have experienced neglect or abuse. With 939 local programs across the country, CASA for Kids is committed to ensuring that every child's voice is heard in the courtroom.
Children with a CASA volunteer are significantly less likely to reenter the child welfare system, with reentries reduced by half. These children are more likely to achieve permanency, be adopted, and excel academically and behaviorally in school. They report higher levels of hope, which correlates with positive outcomes in their lives.
