Our Story

Casa Chirilagua began in 2007 when three passionate women moved into the heart of the Chirilagua neighborhood in Alexandria, Virginia. Their mission was simple: to listen to the stories and wisdom of their Latino neighbors. After two years of immersion in the community, they recognized a pressing need for academic support among local children. This realization led to the creation of a reading club in their apartment, which blossomed into the Kids Club. In 2011, Casa Chirilagua was established as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, uniting parents, staff, volunteers, and church partners to foster a vibrant community.

Our Impact

Today, Casa Chirilagua serves over 100 families and their children each week, providing essential educational programs that promote academic success and a strong sense of belonging.
