Our Story

The Carying Place was founded in 1993 by Milt Douglass, who recognized the urgent need for a program to assist working families with children facing homelessness. Starting with volunteers from local churches, the organization has evolved into a comprehensive program that provides transitional housing and life skills training, empowering families towards self-sufficiency.

Impact

Over the past 30 years, The Carying Place has served over 540 families and helped more than 1,500 children. With an impressive 80% success rate, families achieve self-sustained housing after completing the 16-week transitional housing program, saving an average of $3,000 to $5,000 during their stay.
