Our Story
In 2008, Carpinteria faced a challenge when a public elementary school closed due to declining enrollment. Community leaders and neighbors, with the support of various funders, established a public-private collaboration focused on early education and social services. In January 2009, the Carpinteria Children’s Project opened its doors, providing essential services that were previously inaccessible to families in the area. By 2016, CCP became a standalone nonprofit, dedicated to serving the Carpinteria Valley.
