Our Story

Founded in 1999 by Jeff Schiefelbein after a life-changing experience, CARPOOL was created to offer a reliable and safe transportation option for the Bryan/College Station community. Inspired by a tragic story shared at a Mother’s Against Drunk Driving Victim Impact panel, the program began with a mission to prevent drunk driving and ensure that no one has to face the dangers of the road alone. Over the years, CARPOOL has expanded its reach, providing free rides to intoxicated individuals and others in need, fostering a culture of safety and responsibility.

Impact

As of November 3rd, 2024, CARPOOL has successfully provided 297,169 rides, significantly enhancing community safety and reducing the risks associated with drunk driving.
