Our Story

The Caribbean Cultural Heritage Alliance, Inc. (CCHA) emerged from the West Indian Social Club of Hartford, Inc. in 2014, initially as a Cultural Heritage Committee. This initiative aimed to safeguard the rich history and contributions of Caribbean culture within the Greater Hartford community. Collaborating with the Educational Development Seaport Network (EDSN), the committee began the vital work of organizing artifacts and documents. Recognizing the importance of Arts, Culture, and Historical Preservation, CCHA was established as a separate entity in 2020, proudly obtaining its 501(c)(3) status.

Impact

CCHA actively promotes Caribbean culture, history, and heritage through sustainable community-based research, archiving, preservation, oral history, and exhibitions.
