Our Story

The Carbon County Action Committee for Human Services (CCACHS) was established in June 1965 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. As a proud member of the national network of Community Action Agencies, CCACHS was created under President Lyndon B. Johnson’s 'War on Poverty' initiative. The agency's mission is to alleviate poverty and empower low-income individuals and families in Carbon County to achieve self-sufficiency. Initially funded by the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, CCACHS has evolved over the decades, transitioning to the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) in 1981. The first program launched was the 'Head Start Comprehensive Pre-School Program', and since then, CCACHS has developed numerous programs aimed at helping less fortunate neighbors improve their living conditions.

Impact

For over 50 years, CCACHS has been a vital resource for thousands of residents in Carbon County, providing essential services and support.
