Our Story

Founded in 1999 by dedicated parents and teachers, Capital City Public Charter School is the first parent-founded school in Washington, D.C. Opening its doors in September 2000 with just 135 students, it has grown to serve over 1,000 students from PreK to 12th grade. The mission focuses on fostering creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills while building a strong sense of community.

Impact

Capital City is celebrated for its high graduation rates and commitment to preparing students for college through project-based learning. The school has earned multiple awards, including recognition as an EL Education Mentor School.
