Our Story

Founded in 1922, the Canton Student Loan Foundation emerged from the vision of thirteen dedicated individuals, led by Carrie Forshee and supported by John L. G. Pottorf. Their mission was clear: to eliminate financial barriers for local students aspiring to attend college. Over the decades, the Foundation has expanded its reach, now serving all Stark County high school graduates with increased loan amounts to better support their educational journeys.

Impact

With over $43 million awarded in student loans, the Foundation assists more than 1,100 students each year, boasting an impressive loan repayment rate of 99.8%.
