HorseAbility began in 1993 when founder Kathleen Kilcommons McGowan recognized the profound impact of hippotherapy on children with special needs. By lending her horse to a physical therapist, she witnessed firsthand the transformative bond between the child and the horse. This experience ignited a passion that led to the establishment of HorseAbility, a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with special needs through equine-facilitated interactions.

Located in New York, HorseAbility is proud to be one of only two PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Centers on Long Island, ensuring high-quality equine-assisted activities that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being.
