Our Story

The California Center for Civic Participation, established in 1981, began as the host for the California Journal Magazine. Under the leadership of Executive Director James Muldavin, the focus shifted towards empowering young people to engage in the political process. Over the years, CalCenter has developed programs that foster leadership and advocacy skills, enabling youth to become active participants in their communities.

Impact

CalCenter has successfully engaged thousands of young people in civic education and leadership programs. By collaborating with various stakeholders, the organization addresses critical issues affecting youth, such as health and environmental sustainability, creating pathways for them to influence policy and community change.
