Our Story
The California Aquatic Therapy and Wellness Center, known as Pools of Hope, has a rich history that began in 1956. Inspired by Evelyn duPont, a polio survivor who sought rehabilitation through aquatic therapy, the organization opened its doors to provide free swim lessons for children with disabilities. Over the years, the center has evolved, moving from a small backyard pool to a fully enclosed facility at 6801 Long Beach Boulevard, Long Beach, CA, allowing for year-round access to therapeutic aquatic programs.
Impact
Each year, over 1,500 individuals, including children with developmental disabilities, veterans, and seniors, benefit from our warm water pools, which are essential for improving both physical and mental wellness.
