Our Story
The Caldwell Lake George Library has a rich history that began in 1887, thanks to the vision of DeWitt C. Hay. His personal library became the foundation for a public library in Lake George, officially chartered in 1893. The current library, established in 1906, combines the collections of both the DeWitt C. Hay Library Association and the Lake George Free Library, serving as a cornerstone of knowledge and culture in the community.
