About Burlington Transitional Living Center

Founded in 1993 by a dedicated group of Burlington residents, the Burlington Transitional Living Center (TLC) emerged from a profound awareness of homelessness in the community. Spearheaded by Judy Morrow, who also founded Love, Inc., TLC operates as a separate legal entity while maintaining a strong partnership with Love, Inc. This collaboration allows for shared resources and direct service programming, enhancing the support provided to those in need.

Initially starting in a house at Bohner’s Lake, TLC has evolved significantly over the years. After selling the original property due to sewer upgrade costs, the organization was gifted a house by the City of Burlington, aptly named the Morrow House in honor of its founder. Today, TLC operates a shelter that accommodates up to 15 clients each night, providing essential services to families facing homelessness.

The mission of TLC is clear: to empower families to regain their independence. Homelessness can stem from various challenges, including job loss, mental health issues, domestic abuse, and abandonment. While shelters and food pantries offer immediate relief, TLC focuses on long-term transformation through help, hope, and education. By providing quality and compassionate services, TLC aims to restore dignity and respect to those it serves, primarily women, children, and intact families.
