Building Hope for Children: A Mission to Support Families
Building Hope for Children was founded to address the urgent need for a therapeutic community residence in Vermont for children with developmental disabilities. The inspiration behind this nonprofit stems from the personal journey of a family facing the challenges of caring for a child with complex medical and mental health needs. Henry, a ten-year-old boy, experiences severe seizures and has been diagnosed with ADHD, autism, and intellectual disabilities. His family has tirelessly managed his care, often sacrificing their own well-being to ensure he receives the support he needs.
In Vermont, families like Henry's face a daunting reality: the existing services are fragmented, catering either to mental health or medical needs, but not both. This gap in care has forced families to seek out-of-state solutions, which is not a viable option for many. Building Hope for Children aims to change this narrative by creating a safe, homelike environment where children can thrive while remaining close to their families.
