In 2005, a mission trip to Kitale opened the eyes of Jana O’Guin to the harsh realities faced by street children and women in prison. Witnessing the abject poverty and the plight of children living behind bars, Jana felt a calling to make a difference. During her visit to a women’s prison, she met 75 women and their children, including a baby named Augustine, who had been born in prison. This encounter ignited a passion to help these vulnerable families.

From Despair to Hope

Jana and her husband, Michael, took immediate action to support Augustine and his sister, Elizabeth. They arranged for medical care, education, and a loving home for the children. Recognizing the importance of family, they found a family willing to adopt and raise Augustine and Elizabeth. Over the years, Building Families For Tomorrow has expanded its mission, now providing housing and education for 17 children.

Empowering Women and Families

One of the most inspiring stories is that of Nolega, the mother of Augustine and Elizabeth. After serving 15 years in prison, Nolega found faith and purpose. With the help of Building Families For Tomorrow, she started a small business, allowing her to support her family and contribute to her community.
