In the early 1950s, a dedicated committee of Buies Creek residents recognized the urgent need for fire protection in their community and at Campbell College. They acquired a fire truck from the United States Marine Corps, officially chartering the Buies Creek Volunteer Fire Department on June 20, 1956. Over the decades, the department has evolved, adding emergency medical services and transitioning to a combination of paid and volunteer staff to meet the growing demand for assistance.
Buies Creek Fire & Rescue has significantly improved community safety by lowering their Insurance rating to a 3/9E, resulting in reduced fire insurance premiums for local taxpayers. The department is proud to be the only swift water rescue team in Harnett County, providing essential fire and medical response services.
