Accessible Music Education

Our Story

Buffalo String Works was inspired by a transformative moment during a concert at P.S. 45 International School in March 2014. Co-founder Elise Alaimo, along with musicians Yuki Numata Resnick and Virginia Barron, engaged students with a performance that sparked a profound response from a young boy, who expressed that the music meant, "I love you so much." This moment ignited the vision for Buffalo String Works, which opened its doors in September 2014, initially offering violin lessons to just 17 students. Today, the organization has expanded significantly, providing lessons in multiple string instruments to 160 students across various sites in Buffalo.

Our Impact
