Founded in 2015 by Iyabo Boyd, Brown Girls Doc Mafia (BGDM) emerged from a grassroots movement aimed at addressing the underrepresentation of BIPOC women in the documentary film industry. With over 5,000 members worldwide, BGDM is dedicated to nurturing, amplifying, and investing in the creative potential of BIPOC women and nonbinary individuals.
