Founded in 1983 by Harold and Kay Kutler, Brother Benno's began as a humble soup kitchen in downtown Oceanside, inspired by the compassionate spirit of Brother Benno Garrity, a Benedictine monk dedicated to serving the less fortunate. Initially catering to the street population, the organization has evolved to support the working poor, disabled individuals, and low-income seniors, expanding its services beyond just meals to meet a variety of essential needs.
