Our Story
Founded in 1976, the Broome Volunteer Emergency Squad Inc. emerged from a need for reliable emergency medical services in Broome County, New York. Originally part of the Sheriff’s Department, this dedicated group of volunteers transitioned to a Not-For-Profit Corporation to ensure continuous care for the community. Over the years, the squad has evolved, upgrading to Advanced Life Support in the mid-1980s and expanding its services to meet the growing needs of the population.
Impact
In 2020 alone, the squad responded to 3,951 emergency 911 calls, providing critical first aid and transportation for those in need.
