The Story of Brittany Willis
On June 28, 2004, Brittany Willis, a vibrant and promising young woman, tragically lost her life to random violence while returning a graduation gift in Wilson, North Carolina. Brittany was not only a beloved daughter, sister, and friend but also a dedicated athlete who excelled in soccer, volleyball, and cross-country. As a captain of the Hunt High School Warriors soccer team, she demonstrated leadership and sportsmanship, earning accolades as an All Conference player and an All Academic Athlete throughout her high school career.
Brittany's passion for sports was matched by her commitment to her community. She volunteered at the Wesley Shelter, supporting women and children in need, and was actively involved in her church's youth program. The Brittany Committee was established to honor her legacy by promoting youth safety education and providing scholarships for young athletes in Wilson and surrounding areas.
