Our Story

Founded in 2020 by Kevin Keene, Brighten Haiti addresses the critical challenges faced by schoolchildren in Haiti, particularly the lack of access to electricity. The organization focuses on providing solar power to schools, hospitals, and civic buildings in rural areas where electricity access is severely limited. Through partnerships and an apprenticeship program, local installers are trained to deploy solar energy at a fraction of the cost of U.S. systems, fostering sustainable economies and education.

Our Impact

Brighten Haiti's Solar4Schools program aims to install solar systems in 109 schools, impacting nearly 55,000 students. This initiative represents the largest deployment of solar for schools in Haiti's history, addressing the critical lack of electricity in rural schools where fewer than 35% have basic access.
