Bright Star Community Outreach

Our Story

Bright Star Community Outreach Corporation has proudly served Chicago’s most vulnerable communities for over twelve years. Founded by Pastor Chris Harris, Sr., who grew up in the Bronzeville neighborhood, this 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is dedicated to fostering change through effective programming, social development, and advocacy. Focused primarily on the 3rd and 4th wards of Chicago’s south side, Bright Star addresses critical societal challenges such as violence, economic disparity, inadequate mental health services, homelessness, child safety, and drug abuse.

Our Impact

With a mission to empower residents to take an active role in community building, Bright Star develops innovative, performance-based practices and programs. These initiatives focus on Violence Prevention, Community Engagement, Economic Development, Education, and Healthy Children/Youth and Families, ultimately strengthening local families and communities.
