About Bright Community Trust

Bright Community Trust, formerly known as the Pinellas Community Housing Foundation, was established in May 2008 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing long-term affordable housing solutions. Initially created as a subsidiary of the Housing Finance Authority of Pinellas County, the organization emerged from the visionary efforts of the Board of County Commissioners to tackle the pressing affordable housing shortage in the region.

The Trust plays a crucial role in preserving federal, state, and local funding aimed at creating and maintaining affordable housing. By utilizing a 99-year ground lease, Bright ensures that these homes remain perpetually affordable. Since its independence in 2013, Bright has expanded its reach to serve communities across Tampa Bay and beyond, stewarding over 500 affordable rental units and developing more than 100 single-family homes for first-time income-qualified buyers.
