Supporting Veterans and People with Disabilities

Our Story

Bridging AZ Furniture Bank was founded by Jim Piscopo, an Air Force Veteran, who recognized a critical need while volunteering at domestic violence shelters in Phoenix. In 2003, he saw families transitioning from shelters to homes struggling with the lack of basic furniture. In 2004, Jim and his family made a significant sacrifice to launch Bridging AZ as a ministry of St. Barnabas on the Desert Episcopal Church. This grassroots nonprofit collects new and gently used furniture, distributing it to qualified families and individuals in need.

Impact

Over the past 20 years, Bridging AZ has distributed more than 300,000 items, positively impacting over 60,000 families.
