Our Story

For over forty years, systemic injustices have plagued Bridgeport, undermining civic institutions and grassroots leadership. Corruption and systemic racism have led to economic inequality, leaving residents feeling disenfranchised and powerless. In early 2016, a diverse group of ten individuals, led by Callie Gale Heilmann, came together to form Bridgeport Generation Now. This grassroots organization was born from the belief that positive action is essential to create the change we wish to see in our city.

Our Impact

Bridgeport Generation Now is dedicated to building power through civic engagement. By organizing across race, class, gender, and neighborhood, the organization works to dismantle systemic corruption and racism, striving for a just, equitable, and livable city.
