About Bridge The Gap

Founded in 1982 by Catherine H. McNair, known as Mother McNair, Bridge The Gap (BTG) emerged from a heartfelt response to President Ronald Reagan’s call for community volunteerism. Located in Jacksonville, BTG serves as a beacon of hope for the marginalized, particularly the elderly and those facing disabilities. With a dedicated team of volunteers, BTG has transformed lives by providing essential social services and fostering community solidarity.

Impact in the Community

In 2023, BTG partnered with Feeding Northeast Florida and local grocery stores to distribute over 900,000 pounds of food to families in need. This initiative not only addressed immediate nutritional needs but also strengthened community ties, showcasing the power of collaboration in tackling food insecurity.
