Brewster Cares was established during the pandemic to continue the vital work of the Brewster Emergency Shelter Program, which was forced to shut down due to COVID-19. Founded by community leaders, including Father Richard Gill, this organization aims to provide shelter and support for the homeless, offering a warming center, ESL classes, tutoring, and a meal program called 'Supper Hugs' to address various community needs.
Since its inception, Brewster Cares has served over 600 ESL students, provided shelter to the unhoused during winter months, and delivered 1,000 meals to families in need through the Supper Hugs program, significantly impacting the local community.
