Our Story

Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community has a rich history dating back to 1908, when church leaders established a home for aging widows in Huntsdale, Pennsylvania. Over the years, this small facility expanded to accommodate both men and women, providing a compassionate helping hand to those in need. After a devastating fire in 1951, the community relocated to the Cross Keys Hotel, which opened its doors in 1952 and allowed for even greater capacity. Today, the community spans 334 acres and serves over 800 residents in various living arrangements, including cottages and apartments.

As one of the largest stand-alone non-profit communities in the United States and the largest in Pennsylvania, Cross Keys Village is a leader in Memory Support services. The organization has played a pivotal role in the York/Adams Dementia Friendly America project, ensuring that individuals with cognitive impairments receive the care and support they deserve. With a strong financial foundation and a dedicated team of volunteers, the community continues to thrive and adapt to the needs of its residents.
