Our Story

Founded in 1908, Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community began as a humble farmhouse dedicated to providing compassionate care for aging widows. Over the years, this mission has expanded to serve individuals of all faiths, evolving into a modern Continuing Care Retirement Community. After a devastating fire in 1951, the community relocated to the Cross Keys Hotel, which opened its doors in 1952. Today, the campus spans 334 acres and houses over 800 residents in various living arrangements, including cottages and apartments.

As one of the largest stand-alone non-profit communities in the United States, Cross Keys Village is a leader in Memory Support services and education. The organization has played a pivotal role in the York/Adams Dementia Friendly America project, ensuring that individuals with cognitive impairments receive the care they deserve. With a strong financial foundation, Cross Keys Village continues to thrive, thanks to the dedication of its staff and volunteers.
