Brescia University was founded in 1925 by the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph as a junior college for women. In response to the growing need for co-educational courses after World War II, a second campus was established in downtown Owensboro. The two campuses merged in 1950, creating the Brescia University we know today.
