Our Story

The Breathing Association has a rich history spanning over 116 years, originally established to treat patients during the tuberculosis epidemic. It became the first agency to integrate public health and energy assistance with healthcare services, providing air conditioners and utility payments to low-income families with lung health diagnoses. Over the years, it has expanded its services to include a year-round HEAP program and various lung health initiatives, focusing on vulnerable populations in Central Ohio.
