Our Story

Five years ago, a group of five individuals, each impacted by breast or gynecologic cancer, found themselves struggling to find the support they desperately needed. Disappointed by existing support spaces that often divided individuals based on their diagnoses, ages, and backgrounds, they sought a more inclusive community. It was through social media that Allie, diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer at age 28, connected with Paige, who shared recovery tips after her preventative mastectomy at age 24. Meanwhile, Trish was navigating her own breast cancer diagnosis as a Black woman, and Bri was grappling with her breast cancer risk after losing her mother at a young age. This serendipitous connection inspired the vision of creating a welcoming space for all—survivors, previvors, stage 4 thrivers, and caregivers alike.

Impact

Since the inception of The Breasties in 2018, the organization has grown to meet the many unmet needs of the community. The first retreat brought together 25 individuals, and the overwhelming response led to the realization that more could be done. The Breasties is now the first all-inclusive nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering community among those affected by breast and gynecologic cancers.
