Our Story

Founded in 1996 by survivor Vednita Carter, Breaking Free empowers individuals affected by sex trafficking and exploitation. Initially focused on supporting Black girls and women, the organization has broadened its reach to provide essential resources for all survivors.

Breaking Free has positively impacted over 7,500 clients and reached more than 25,000 individuals through dedicated street outreach and vital services.
