About the Breakfast Program at St. Andrew’s

The Breakfast Program at St. Andrew’s began in 1982 with a heartfelt mission to support those facing economic hardships in Ann Arbor, Michigan. During a challenging economic recession, a dedicated group of parishioners at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church recognized the urgent need for assistance in their community. They started serving breakfast to approximately 35 guests three times a week, and as the demand grew, they expanded their services to provide meals every day of the year.

Today, the Breakfast Program serves nearly 100 meals daily, welcoming individuals from all walks of life. Guests include the young and old, some facing homelessness, addiction, or mental health challenges, while many are hardworking individuals striving to make ends meet. The program operates with the support of a 12-member board of directors and over 100 dedicated volunteers, creating a safe and comfortable environment for all who enter.

Impact of the Breakfast Program

By serving almost 100 meals each day, the Breakfast Program at St. Andrew’s plays a crucial role in addressing food insecurity in the Ann Arbor community. This initiative not only provides hot meals but also fosters a sense of community and belonging among guests.
